Music Through times:
From the renaissance to the present

The concert that will be presented is very didactic and it invites the public to make a journey through the guitar and music to older times. The optimization of the guitar’s performance allows the interpretation of every piece with the suitable sonority of the époques represented in the program.  The concert is ideal for all the people who enjoy classical music and the guitar, the show is intended for audiences of all ages.
The motivation for this show is the opportunity to demonstrate that the classical guitar is a complete instrument and that’s capable of generating different sounds through specific tunings for each piece or arrangement of classical music of different eras. I believe music is the universal language by excellence. My wish is to contribute to the immense musical world by sharing my knowledge and expressing my feelings in a natural way for me: Through the guitar, with whom I have a relationship of more than 40 years.

The inspiration for this program comes from years of study and interpretation of antique music in vihuela and guitar. To achieve this goal it is necessary to research in order to explain each of the pieces and their history. I also did practical work to achieve the guitar interpretation of the different pieces in a way that they reflect the sound of the époque. The program adapts and changes over time, as it recovers works studied years ago.
History of the repertoire
The concert has been held previously in Mexico (Mexico DF and Guanajuato), Turkey (Izmir), Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa and Brasaville), Sarajevo, Serbia and Spain among others. In the following link you can enjoy an example recorded in Mexico D.F., by the Culture Channel:

Por la Gracia de Bach

One of the principal aims for the adaptation of the Suite was to project with maximum clarity the different fibers that form its complex contrapuntal texture. With that in mind, we chose the tonality of C minor (instead of the more typical of A minor) by means of a capo on the third fret; this way, a better projection of the higher harmonics is obtained, something that further enhances the threads of the texture. To counterbalance the slight loss of the low end of the instrument, some of the bass lines were carefully transposed.

Sonatas para Guitarra:
Turina & Antonio José

Antonio José Martínez Palacios, better known as Antonio José was born in Burgos, December 12, 1902 and executed by a Falangist firing squad in 1936 at Estépar (Burgos). His music for guitar like the Sonata (1933) are written works attending the requests of Burgos guitarist Regino Sáinz de La Maza, of whom he was a friend since 1924 and to whom it´s dedicated. The Sonata for guitar, opus 61 is a piece for solo guitar that Joaquín Turina composed in 1930. He began the work on October 24, 1930. Its premiere took place on January 29, 1932 by Andrés Segovia at the Santa Cecilia Academy, of Rome.

Danzas Vienesas

In the halls of Vienna in the second half of the nineteenth century the waltzes of the Strauss dominated the dance floor, along with the polkas, mazurkas among others. Part of the audience looked to reproduce the atmosphere in their homes, to achieve this they acquired scores for piano and also for guitar. As an invitation from Spanish National Radio, José Luis Martínez studies and chooses a series of unpublished waltzes for guitar and records them with an 1890 romantic guitar.
