Martinez - Andújar Guitar Duo

The Spanish guitar, in its classical and flamenco variants, is the protagonist of the concert proposed. The Martínez-Andújar Guitar Duo interpret the classics of Manuel Falla and Federico García Lorca, as well as popular songs from Spain and Latin America with a classical and flamenco guitar. Jose Luis Martinez and Rafael Andújar came together to form this duo more than 20 years who have traveled to festivals and concerts in more than 10 countries.

This initiative is intended to bring closer together the classical and flamenco guitars. To achieve the integration of both guitars in a way that each highlights the strengths of the other and to interpret different musical works with the original stamp of the Duo.

The preparation for this concert involves solo training, and more importantly group practices, to achieve harmony between guitars and get the most out of both. The works included in the program are Homage to Federico García Lorca composed by José Luis Martínez a fantasy of folk songs rescued Lorca, a selection of "El Amor Brujo" and "Dance #1 from La vida breve" by Falla, the Zapateao by Paco de Lucia with a second guitar composed by Rafael Andújar. Arrangements for the popular songs are developed between the guitarists during the rehearsals.
